Western Herbal Medicine is a clinical practice of utilizing plants that have undergone little to no processing for the purpose of medicine. Medicines or extracts from crude plant material such as roots, bark, and flowers, for example, are utilized in a single medicine fashion, or in combination to make a formula with the purpose to treat disease and dysfunction and to promote health and well-being.

Herbal medicine practices have been utilized for centuries by all cultures with many of their therapeutic uses passed down from indigenous cultures. There is a large body of research supporting the use of herbal medicine’s and their utility for a variety of health concerns.
